You have successfully imported your goods and your products are now lying in your warehouse, office or home. If you check properly you will discover that many people have also imported such goods as the ones you brought into the country. Like I have been saying in the previous articles, the major problem is not in importing the goods from China or other countries of the world, but how to sell them profitably.
In our series on imports we are going to spend quite some time looking at ways to develop a sustainable strategy to be used to market imported products so that you can remain in business and make money from it. We will look at the various techniques to be used in marketing goods imported so that you will not be frustrated. I have seen many importers with so much initial enthusiasm give up the business because of their inability to sell the products they imported profitably.
The competition among both big and small businesses vying for customers in this modern time when anybody can easily set up a business is cutthroat. So the best thing for you to do is to create your own marketing strategy. How are you going to create a marketing strategy that stands out among the millions of businesses out there?
In our previous article on mini importation from China, we said that we need to go into specific types of products that we have researched and discovered that there are hungry buyers who are searching for the products. But no matter how good your products are, and even if there are people who need them, you must be able to create a way to reach them. Like we said, it is very important to do proper research before selecting the product to import so that you do not import a product that nobody wants to buy from you. If you buy products that are being sold by too many people, too much competition will kill the business for you.
That you have researched and found a product or products that many people are looking for and they are ready to buy does not mean that you are the only person that imported the product. So your first step will be to know your competition. You must search and know those people and organizations that are also dealing in the same range of products. You need to do this so that you can know what they are doing and what their position in the market is. It is impossible to design a good marketing strategy without knowing your competition. It is crucial to understanding what the competition is up to, and what the special qualities your products have are. Why do you think that customers will want to buy from you instead of buying from your competitors?
You must find out the special quality that your product has, craft a story about it so that customers will know that they are going to have those benefits when they buy. Remember that customers want to buy products or pay for services that help them solve problems. So discover the problems your product solves and craft stories about them and let your customers know.
In our previous article when we were discussing how to research products using keyword research tools, we said that we need products that have people looking for such products in large numbers. Yes you need large numbers but always make sure that they are those who truly are ready to buy and not those who think that the product is okay but are not interested in buying.
Go where your buyers are. If your ideal customer spends his or her time on facebook, go there and advertise your product to them. Do an in-depth research and find out where they spend their time; go and meet them there. It is also important to know at what time of the day they go there, find out and meet them there.
Listen to what people are complaining about on the street; from there you can know what type of solution that people who fall into that category that can use your product are complaining about. Key into their problems and fears; then offer them your product as a solution.
