The same thing will happen if you import substandard products, people will not buy them from you; then it will become a big problem for you to dispose. You must know how to get high-quality products from very reliable sources in order to make it in this mini-importation business.
I started my mini importation business with AliExpress, and I had a fair share of the problems new entrants face in every business venture. The truth is that not all sellers are reliable, some mask themselves to look as if they are reliable but if you follow the principles we are going to show you, you will not face much difficulty in knowing whether a seller is reliable or not.
Before we continue, let me share with you one mistake I made when I started this business, that was my second importation after the first one went successfully. I searched and decided to import power banks that can power laptops. I went to AliExpress to search for a seller, I forgot to check for the Rating and Reviews of the product; and I placed the order.
When the products arrived, they could not even charge an ordinary 3,000 mAH phone. What a waste of my money and time. I was devastated, A terrible oversight. I now decided to check the reviews that people left about the product, and they were terrible.
I didn’t know what to do as a new importer, I consulted with my mentor, and he advised me to threaten the seller with an adverse review and to report him to the company if he does not refund my money.
After some days of going back and forth, he agreed to refund my money, provided that I agree in writing not to leave a negative review after receiving my money.
You see, I could have lost a lot of money because the product was expensive, but I had ready buyers. One of the things that saved me was that I was registered and the product had a refund policy. If you make this type of mistake where you do not have a refund policy, your money is gone.
So, anytime you want to order any product, please check the reviews by the people who had bought the product in the past and see what they are saying about the product. I had actually left some bad reviews for products that were not 100% as described in the sales page by the sellers. They cried and asked why I did not contact them first before writing negative reviews because they knew it would adversely affect their online business.
Every serious eCommerce website must have ratings and reviews features for their products. If you encounter any one without these features, please tread carefully as there may be something they are hiding.
I will advise you to set a strategy of a rating of not less than 45 or 95% before you can place an order to purchase the product. Take your time and go through the reviews well, this will give you a good idea of what people that bought the product in the past have experienced.
These reviews will tell you how fast their delivery system is, and the quality of the product, is it the same thing as you saw it in the pictures?
You will discover that the more positive reviews people drop for the product, the better experience you will get, because it shows that the product will be as described and other things you didn't even know about the product can be revealed by the reviews.
In this mini importation business, you cannot be too careful, because if you make any mistake you will be stuck with the product and that is bad for your business. A bad product will give you stress and your customers will start distrusting you, and that is why when importers discover that they have made such mistakes, instead of selling bad or sub-standard products to their customers, they keep them at home or give them out free to their friends and family members who will understand that it was not intentional.
